The Origin of BJJ

BJJ is a martial art that originated after Mitsuyo Maeda brought his Japanese martial art, now known as Judo, to Brazil. His most famous student was Carlos Gracie, a member of the famous Gracie family.

The Gracies further developed the Japanese martial art into what we now know as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Central to BJJ is its focus on technical skills.

Through throwing techniques and ground techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation, you will learn to defend yourself and hold your ground in stressful situations such as competitions.

But even if you don’t feel the need to compete, the skills you’ve learned are valuable. Each lesson includes challenging techniques and instructional formats.
